Another pic for #ThirstyCardboard (beauty shots of board games) The lighting made this pic of Final Girl (maybe my first play?) unexpectedly moody and ominous😆😬

My kids’ game Magic Market is so beautiful, Loki Kids went all out with incredible components and artwork #ThirstyCardboard

Here's an old, but lovely, shot of one corner of the game board for Zapotec to get me started with #ThirstyCardboard , the tag for boardgame beauty shots! ( #boardgames )

Are you seeing Spots!? You should be. This fun dice rolling, push-your-luck boardgame is filled with charming (John Bond) art of spotted dogs. Dogs have spots, dice have spots. I never understood why this game didn't take off more. Seems perfect for the dept store game aisle.

Small box boardgames don't get the love they deserve. Deep Sea Adventure is a beautiful, push-your-luck game that is as fun as it's charming. W/ wooden dice, diver meeples & cardboard chits, submarine, you can be lured into thinking this will be relaxing, until your air runs out.

👑 Kingdomino is 1 excellent boardgame. Bruno Cathala is 1 of my fav designers. It's slick, easy to learn, full of great decisions & has whimsical art by Cyril Bouquet...w/ details like a giant woodland spider, shadow of Nessie, & fun scarecrows on tiles that could be just terrain.

What's your most overproduced boardgame? Like it had no reason to be produced w/ all the extras & could have just been cards/tokens.

Mine is CMON's Modern Art. Great art (of art!), tarot sized cards, poker chips, wooden gavel and block, museum screens, & easel. Ridiculous!

Wish more people talked about Go Nuts for Donuts...a clever set collection boardgame. Secretly pick a number corresponding w/ cards available, if only you pick it, you get it (& trigger action), if 2+ select it, it gets discarded. It has deliciously beautiful art & so fun to play.

I ❤️ space boardgames; no surprise as I heavily consume sci-fi books & shows. So Star Realms has an extra appeal to me, but no matter the theme, I would have loved this fun (mostly) 2 player deck builder. The art is great & each ship type is unique...checkout the health counters!

I don't get to play 2 player boardgames very often but when I do, Raptor is at the top of my list. A fantastic A-symmetrical hand management game pitting raptors and scientists against each other. Plus it looks great with standee mountains as well as minis.

Nothing tickles me quite as much as a boardgame having beautiful, unique art on each card. For Sale does this w/ a little humor...the lower the card, the worse "house" you have. From a cardboard box to the space station, you feel like the numbers have just a little more weight.

I talk a lot about beautiful boardgames on #ThirstyCardboard, but what is the ugliest game that you love?

The custom dice and wooden components are beautiful and so well done in Tiny Epic Galaxies. I especially love the ships. I really enjoy this boardgame but I don't care for any of the other Tiny Epic games.

Agreed. So much so that I've started a joke hashtag where I post about good looking boardgame components called #ThirstyCardboard.

Love that it could have been cubes (like the original boardgame) but they went with chunky gems. The metal coins are also a nice touch. Century: Golem Edition is such a fun game that really has minimal components, so I'm glad they delux-ified them.

Never understood why SteamPark never really took off as a boardgame. The game is component rich & looks AMAZING. 😍 Robot meeples, rollercoasters, cute metal pigs, custom wood dice, what more could you want?

Real-time phases are hit/miss for folks I guess but I really enjoy it!

Love the attention to detail on these Lost Cities cards. What a great 2P boardgame with fantastic art that takes you on a journey to discover the artifact if you overlay the tarot-sized cards in ascending order. I'm unsure if the new versions do this but I truly hope they do.

I love chunky dice. When you have a component that is the focus of the boardgame, make it big! King of Tokyo is a super fun game that does it right.

The wooden dinos from Draftosaurus are adorable. It's a boardgame that not only plays great but has really good-looking components. How fun are these!?
