Yet nevertheless, in one of the world's biggest airports, he was got on his plane with a 90" connection time despite the fact he immigrated and took public transport between the terminals. On a moderately bad day, 90" might get you halfway through the immigration hall at JFK.

That giant purple sign in the photo says, in English, “Flight Connections All Terminals”

I have done an International-International connection, between two different airlines and two different terminals at LHR and it was incredibly easy. I can't understand how someone who thinks he's smarter than everyone else could struggle at it
Noah Smith is paid in the high six-figures to write a blog read by Americans who believe themselves to be intelligent. Yet, he is both unable to read a sign and also for some reason chose to have a 90 minute layover for a flight that takes 90 minutes.

Economist Doesn't Follow Signs At Heathrow: Proof The UK Is Failing?
A economist had a bad experience connecting at Heathrow, suggesting it's reflective of bigger issues in the UK. There's only one issue...

* I haven’t been in a decade and am basing this on last experience and eg the blog post that critiques Noah’s trip. And other comments about the state of Heathrow. I understand a bunch of the terminals have been upgraded. So I’m not positive about the state; but it can be consuming with 5 terminals.

like it'd be one thing if he was blaming the confusing architecture of the Franz Kafka International Airport or the geometry of R'yleh National's departure terminals but c'mon, it's Heathrow, man, there were signs

No, it may be free between terminals but physical tickets are sometimes required.

The “all terminals” is nice touch

an airside bus between terminals does seem less typical, but large airports are complex, i'd look it up ahead of time!

The bulk of content is the same soulless loot-chasing that’s plagued Fallout 4 since launch:

No characters, no voice acting, no new areas, just “find note, kill enemy, get loot.”

all terminals and ghost hunts.

The Aviation Museum and Library is closed today to observe Veteran’s Day and will re-open tomorrow, November 12 at 10am. All other exhibitions are available to view around the terminals including “Ricardo Alvarado: Capturing a Cultural Legacy” on display, pre-security, in Terminal 3: bit.ly/3VDJLvm

Wtf. I have literally done this exact transfer and can confirm from personal experience that it is perfectly possible to transfer between terminals while remaining airside. I am not the biggest fan of LHR, but it’s not *that* bad — and also, Americans don’t have a leg to stand on re: airports.
November 11, 2025 at 3:23 PM
Am I going crazy or do you actually not need a ticket to travel on the trains between terminals? What would be the point of giving out free tickets?

c) if he thinks Heathrow is confusing, he should try La Guardia (I’ll grant that the situation with the underground stops is potentially a little bit tricky, but I don’t understand how he got to the tube in the first place. Transfers between terminals are free and we’ll sign-posted).

I'm starting a new business where for 1000€ apiece I will personally guide Americans between the terminals at Heathrow.
November 11, 2025 at 1:53 PM
Maybe he was excited to take the Tube for free between terminals.

So they don’t REALLY have to have Russian gas.

It’s easier, for sure to pump and burn gas, but it doesn’t come with putin’s fingers reaching out from the gas terminals I Budapest.

They have private entrances at the airports so they didn’t have to see all the little people sleeping in the main terminals or standing on endless lines because their flights have been cancelled.
