For such a useful tool, Tailscale are bizarrely quiet about `tailscale file`.
`tailscale file cp filename.ext machine:` - on macOS, file lands in the target machine's Downloads folder.
No faff. No public keys. Whoosh pop.
And don't get me started about `tailscale serve` and `tailscale funnel`.

Using Codex CLI with gpt-oss:120b on an NVIDIA DGX Spark via Tailscale
I've written about the DGX Spark before. Here's how I got OpenAI's Codex CLI to run on my Mac against a gpt-oss:120b model running on the DGX Spark via a Tailscale network.

I'm running Jellyfin (free, open-source) on a small pc I bought secondhand on ebay. And if you use something like Tailscale (free for small-scale personal use) you can even access it from meshed devices off your local network. Building your library is oddly satisfying. 😂

Hey, Jay's local Computer Queer here -- do you have a tutorial for sorting out Tailscale (or a similar tool) for remote access to Jellyfin libraries? I have a Plex Pass in part because I can't be bothered to figure out remote for Jellyfin!

I’ve started ripping CDs and using Jellyfin as a server and library and streaming it to my phone using the app Manet. You can set up any old computer on your home network with trueNAS and tailscale can get you connected for free. That is if you don’t want to switch to a dedicated device.

It's actually super easy. Add the server and whatever you want to use for remote access to your Tailscale device list, and as long as it's running on both you're good to go, no exit nodes or anything required.

Sending your family or friends a plug-and-play Tailscale device can help out both sides: with exit node access, remote tech support, file sharing, and more. Here's our guide to setting up a VPN by mail: tailscale.com/blog/exit-no...

so tailscale took me like 10mins to setup...sick. I can now leave home in peace and not worry about someone breaking the whole network T-T

after a year of usage, I
- kept the original case and a cooler one with manual control
- switched from Pi-hole to AdGuard (for some reason). It works fine
- stopped using HomeAssistant and other IoT stuff
- installed tailscale
- adopted a bit dotfiles setup for linux systems
so now its just DNS-box

don't worry we've written an entire service to expose an HTTP endpoint over tailscale so we could hook up an iOS shortcut to sleep our PC before

dealing with some terrible anxiety lately. but it's okay. i set up an internal DNS resolver (unbound) and used tailscale as a VPN with it to restrict stuff to tailnet-only by domains WITH HTTPS CERTS

Because someone had the temerity to speak to me of privacy, here's a thread detailing some basic recommendations in brief
VPN:
1. Do it yourself via Tailscale. Plain Wireguard provides even more control if you're hard enough.
2. Mullvad still seems okay for now. That's it.
3. No ProtonVPN ever

All really solid stuff in this thread.
I am a Tailscale evangelist. You might use a VPN service to get around geofences or obscure your IP address. The purpose of Tailscale is different. It's there if you just want secure private networking (it is end to end encrypted too)

I haven’t done anything with my home lab in a couple of months, so I started familiarising myself with Tailscale. Really awesome tool. I think I’ll probably roll it out to my entire setup to get a better grips on security. 🔒
