There are many reasons why socialists must stand in elections, aiming to win a powerful share of the vote and, at least occasionally, win seats. Unfortunately, all the reasons I can think of don't apply to how TUSC or Transform have applied their electoral strategy, that's assuming they have one.

I know some TUSC/Transform members are on BlueSky. If they agree with my gloomy assessment of their prospects in May's local elections, why are they standing? I know why they'll suffer. Do they? If they don't, I can tell them what they're doing wrong. There is so much to say. Defend yourselves!

I looked into many different parties before deciding to join thr Socialist Party of England & Wales (Socialistparty.org.uk)
The reason was that during the 2024 election I saw them genuinely trying to get other parties to work together under the TUSC umbrella, unlike others who were splitting votes

I don't normally think of myself as having come from a particularly political family but then I remember that my Grandad was secretary of his local Labour Party, that my cousin has stood for parliament (for TUSC) and that I'm related to a former Fianna Fáil TD.

Why couldn't the TUSC or the Workers Party be part of a left coalition? Those who share the coalition principles must not stand against one another in local or national elections. In 2017/19 1000s of supporters travelled miles canvassing for Labour candidates pro e.g. nationalisation of water, rail
I admit TUSC has been unsuccessful at promoting itself in this time period which is part of why people like Transform & Collective have tried to reinvent the wheel, but also it's sectarianism

TUSC are trying to do this but they need major help. Big names need to risk their careers for the good of the people, not just sit in the Red Tory party: “stay and fight” was nonsense.
