Q2: I always do a collaborative math task. When I was in K-12, I did origami boxes and Mayan numbers (from @rickbrlw on Twitter…I think). Now I do usually do a pattern task to get future teachers thinking about how to work together and challenge what math classrooms can look like #TODOSslowchat

My first lesson teaches math like it was an English class, using parts of speech to identify analogs in mathematics.
I want it to empower kids who don't consider themselves "math people" to see that if they understand language, they can understand algebra

having multiple sections learning at the same pace is such a struggle. remembering to give ourselves grace to meet our Ss where they are!

I anticipate having to do a lot of differentiation this year. I expect to have three sections of algebra 2, and I may not be able to keep them all at the same pace. I will have a lot of enrichment (for those ahead) and support materials (for those taking their time) at hand.

Community college: developmental math. Challenge: getting them to believe they can understand this stuff, that it's not too late and 6 new teachers. I'm printing out horiz and vert # lines from mathequalslove.net to put up in those four classrooms and get 'em in for my 1:1 tutoring :)
