A2: @lyfemathluv.bsky.social and I led a fully gamified PD including badges, levels, and all! Educators loved seeing how play boosts engagement. It was both fun and powerful. #TLSkyChat #Gamification

A4: As it has a special place in my heart.....I would love to see the Redwall series by Brian Jacques to get a game. The objective as in the books would be to go on a journey and save the day, of course! #TLSkyChat

A7: First, have a large & open choice game collection.

Second, encouraging rotation for popular games.

Third, "Available to play!" signs.

Finally, me playing with students when I can. I invite different students to play!

A2: Advocating for play starts by first encouraging play.

We have over 130 games in our collectionand add frequently. We have a community puzzle table. We have student record quickstart guides for games.

Second, we integrate play on lessons whenever possible.

A8: Shop thrift & yard sales.

Ask for donations. So many people have closets of games to give.

My best games have been purchased 80% or more off at the grocery after the holidays.

KEEP GAME PARTS from incomplete games.

GIANT GAMES

Let students be loud.

Play too.

A5: I wanna start by saying when I still had my classroom job, I taught a Senior elective Novels class. One of our projects was to make a game based off our free reading choices.

I have seen the BEST books become wacky, intense, amd fun board games!!!

A3: Each space and time during the day has a vibe. I found that during the morning Ss were more focused on traditional study hall work. However, the afternoon tended to facilitate a bit more conversation and opportunity for gaming. #TLSkyChat

A2: Advocating for play is much easier now that k-12 is more focused on SEL and understands the need for social, cooperative, and relaxing time. Play goes well with calming corners, and helps us break those musty, dusty, shushing stereotypes. #TLSkyChat

Q4: Maybe I am exhausted, but I feel like games & ramifications ARE SEL not supporting SEL.

Yes, games involve strategy & creativity & problem solving...

But they are teamwork & cooperation & self-regulation & empathy. They are the "...thrill of victory & the agony of defeat..."

A8: Go with board games students like. Gradually bring in less familiar games and make sure they can be played within a class period. Make sure to demo or playof unfamiliar games with Ss. They will never pick them up if they do not know how to play. #TLSkyChat

A4: TOO MANY WAYS!

Learning about winning and losing games, taking turns and talking nicely- all needed when coming to school!

One of my favorite connections- making an argument and backing it up with evidence- what an important life skill! And connects with all 4 core content areas.

The students desire to play the games. I've removed students from the library if they can't coop and they return. One group organized their own tournament for a 10 minute soccer game. REWARDS.
Still working on cross-clique game play. Ran on contest on 3d print. How does it work?
