#TDD
Kickstarter update! I’ve made my entire selfpubbed backlist (23 ebooks, both from early in my career to my 3 final books in my TDD SEAL Team10 series, the final one, BlameItOnRio from 2023) ebook “add-ons” at $3 each, & backers are grabbing them along w #JulesCassidyPI. Win/win! #Romancelandia

People talk a lot about TDD and BDD, but really, testing starts much earlier, right in the programming language itself, with things like static types and null safety, and then the compiler steps in to catch errors before they ever become runtime problems. Don't say now you don't need to test 😉

I now have a GUI for my #rust #GameOfLife
Will optimize the code a bit and try to test _some_ of the UI code with unit tests.

Then I might record a video, since I did not yet find one on youtube where someone implements it in Rust using #TDD (if you know such a video, please forward it to me).

Red, green, refactor: writing perfect Go, with TDD Make it work, then make it right: the “red, green, refactor” technique helps us craft Go code that’s correct and beautiful. It’s easy! Shall we play a game?

Fixed all of #TDD unit tests. Everything compiles. All the tests pass. Now I'm off to break something new.

And that’s why I’m so excited to be teaching a workshop in how to use Test Driven Development (TDD) to get the best out of LLLM-augmented coding.

never thought I'd say this, but I'm really getting into DDD right now. combine it with Claude Code + TDD + ~20 years of Python muscle memory = stupid fast velocity. scaffolding in seconds, repeatable patterns and the tests write themselves

Last week, I elaborated on requirements. But to create good software solutions, developers also need good Acceptance Criteria!
Read about the rules for acceptance criteria here: www.canva.com/design/DAG2D...

I'm finishing up SOMA again and will play Rebirth for the first time next but so far it's this: I started Penumbra: Overture but decided to skip ahead and replay TDD, Justine, AMFP, and SOMA. TDD isn't scary to me and is incredibly easy, Justine is annoying, and AMFP is ok but one worth playing once

Starting to release a full stack TDD tutorial on how to use test2doc. It's based off the RedwoodSDK tutorial for v0, so I've migrated it to support v1. And added tests.

Made the message router convert the message document name into a document id. Naturally this cause several of my #TDD unit tests to start failing. Original assumption, messages would not change. Now, document names must be converted into ids before forwarding so correct tables are reached.

𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝟭𝟬𝟭: 🧱 What is a Unit Test? A dev-written test to prove a tiny piece of code (a "unit") does what they think it does. It's the first line of defense against their own mistakes. #testing101 #UnitTesting #TDD https://www.rfr.bz/bc0c8c4
What is Unit Testing?
Unit Testing of software applications is done during the development (coding) of an application. The objective of Unit Testing is to isolate a section of code and verify its correctness. ...

I’m gonna try TDD as my de facto way of writing code w/ AI for a bit. It seems like if you have them write the tests absent the code, they write strong tests. If you give them the code to write tests against, they reward hack pretty consistently.

TDD requires a spec, else how do you know what tests to write?

I mean, obvs these people aren't very bright, so perhaps that is what they mean, but it's nonsense.
