#Stromness
This afternoon some of us hiked from Leith whaling station over tussocked Hills and shale slopes to Stromness whaling station. Seals hiding in the tussocks were a threat. Glorious weather, great views.

Any donations can be handed in to library staff in Kirkwall or Stromness, or at the Mobile Library.

We'll have a rail at Kirkwall and Stromness so you can come along and take any coats you need, whenever you need them. It's another way we're trying to help people spend less. 🧥

We are launching a new Winter Coat Swap at Orkney Library & Archive. If you have any winter coats you no longer need we'd be delighted to have them.
We're looking for coats to fit any age and size, adult or child, as long as they are in good, clean condition ready for wearing. 🧥 #GreenLibraries

"Arch Eye the Noo"

a Common Seal (Phoca vitulina) in the gloaming at the Brig o' Waithe, near Stromness, #Orkney. If you look closely, two of the arches of the bridge are reflected in the seal's left eye.

Looking at Stromness when swimming is just so much nicer than having to listen to Labour agreeing with Trump - it was bad enough when they were just agreeing with everything Farage said

Orkney Councillors will consider proposals for a 20mph speed limit in built-up areas today, which is a breakneck speed compared to the past limit of 4mph. Anything faster was considered 'Furious Driving'.

We generally drive to John O'Groats and use the short ferry crossing from there. Less nauseating than Scrabster to Stromness.

I did Scrabster to Stromness one January with a vicious hangover and that was bad enough.

Massive thanks to the brilliant Sally Magnusson for coming along to Stromness Library last night to discuss her fabulous new novel The Shapeshifter's Daughter.

Both the old and new Stromness Library buildings feature in the story so it was wonderful to hold the event there. ❤️
