But that is not enough. No.10 should never have been in a position to install Gibb in the first place. It shouldn't control the board membership, the DG appointment, or the purse strings. What's required is genuine independence for the BBC.

I'm pretty sure the whole point of this frustration was that a substantial chunk of your colleagues don't want anything to do with the bigger fight, and fail to see the manifest dangers from repeatedly giving these people what they want with no meaningful strings attached. Jesus Christ.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

Reiterating my belief that the Epstein saga is such a huge question mark with outcomes ranging from “Trump falsifies the docs to implicate all his enemies and gets away it” to “an an angry mob strings up the kiddie fucker” that I don’t feel comfortable making predictions about a year from now.
