#Streetlights

I stood on the deck at a party in Eagle Rock looking down on the streetlights and when they didn’t all blow out plunging LA into darkness that’s when I knew the 21st century was gonna suck.

I agree!! 'AI' is amazing at things: it's just not the sort of consumer things they are pushing! Imagine statistical models controlling streetlights or like transit or something. I don't know. I imagine they're using it already to decide how to carpet bomb things or something but like . . .

Times were different then. Parents knew your friends and your friends parents, a simple phone call could find you in a snap! Streetlights were your clock, when they blinked on you better be heading into the house! 🤣🤣

Midnight in the city. 🌃✨
This painting captures that specific urban mood—the heavy texture of the night sky, the glow of streetlights, and the quiet movement of people past towering architecture. There's a beautiful, thick impasto energy here.

Isn’t white (led) light far more damaging to nature and animals?

A few years ago they changed our streetlights to bright white led lights. It’s awful and totally destroys the night time atmosphere…
💡 Different colours = different lighting technologies.

👀 Compare 2017 vs 2022: artificial light is shifting towards whiter tones.

Today’s #poetryprompt:

Just watched the streetlights come on.

Write me a poem about the transition between day and night. When does the day end? When does the morning start? How do you know? What feelings does it bring?

Im from the "get out but be home by streetlights" generation
The drink hose water generation
The "we dont care what you do just dont bother us if you get hurt" generation

Pretty (cold) morning at the University of Minnesota! (Our home Pillsbury Hall on right, and Rapson beyond.)

Good morning. As predicted the weather changed drastically overnight with winter returning, feeling much more familiar in the week the New Year turns in Chicago. #photography #chicago #weather #today

Trees of course. With metal cages around em until they are big n strong enough i guess.

Looks like this in some places here in germany.

Not to say it´s a bollard paradise...empty parking lot . bent light. bent bikeracks. Talltype of light on the left? small bollard next to 1 bent 100m from there.

Had mini ice storm last night. Should be melted away shortly as it’s almost 40F out.

Did not get the usual e-mails, which tells me the system isn't as automated as I thought it might be by now.

We'll see if anything comes today, besides the standard "not our fault!" press release below, currently leading at WOOD.

LED streetlights make it look like a scene out of Dr. Zhivago.

Streetlights were without power on the drive home from the grocery store (I was not driving, I took this photo safely)

ברור שזה יהיה מטופש.
The only flash of brilliance I've known is a knife reflecting tge streetlights.

“I don’t know why young people thought everything was so easy in the past.” You & your husband raised 4 children on one salary. You also raised 4 children on one salary at a time where it was normal to kick your kids out of the house all day and tell them to come home when the streetlights turned on

They should replace the streetlights with LEDs but they should still emit that comfortable blade runner yellow in Chicago

“According to the staff this one is apparently especially for her cruelty,” Grace added.

Evelyn cocked a brow as that was hard to believe. Drusilla made Evelyn's crime scene appear amateurish… how sadistic does she have to be to be noticed by Drusilla?

“Did you get a name?”

The stories I have! The same Gen-X that will share the "We drank out of water hoses and stayed out until the streetlights came on," are the same screaming the dicks out of teachers for their kids shitty behaviors. Then I was dealing with young Millennial and Gen-Z parents they raised🙃

The snow looks beautiful, especially in the glow of the streetlights. Good to see Kyiv with power again. Hope tonight is restful and that tomorrow brings you many moments to cherish. 🤗❄️💛💙
