Conservative men fall into with a Roderick Spode type or an Ignatius Reilly type.
I'm working in a typology for conservative women but as far as I can tell they are either a Schafly type or a Mitford type (Unity or Diana)

When we have a house together and I have my own separate room, that is where I will store all my holiday decor, and then and only then will I be allowed to look at the Anthropologie holiday glassware, and finally buy the Spode Christmas dishes.

Spode is an OK character, true. But the plots are all forgettable things about cow creamers and proposals and people on ladders at windows and so on. I honestly can barely remember one from another. I can recall Bertie's putdown of Spode almost word for word though.

A lot of people responding to the OP are saying « Wodehouse » and I would argue that if you think Wodehouse is Tory, you’ve not read it right. (It is not radical, but it is ironic and gently mocking, not just about Spode and the Black Shorts, but about Bertie and Blandings too)
