I was out searching for signs of life in the garden after replenishing a few bird feeders. Last week, the garden was completely covered in snow w/20° temps and this week a wee bit of warmth and an abundance of sunshine. ☀️✨

Only a little planting today. I'm very sore, so trying to take it easy, but all the bulbs are in!

The ground is soft enough that I managed to get the Spirea in, and I'm hoping to plant the apple trees where I want them this weekend 🤞

Like a lot of gardeners, I'm really picky about bright red in the garden, but if I can find this, I may need to make an exception

So cute!!

Listen, the King of Asgard don’t give a damn about your daylight or your saving time. Schedules must be adhered to. Still waiting on the extra hour, cause sleep don’t come easy and I’m going down. Had us out here looking like ashy chocolate at 6 in the morning, on this brisk fall day.

Our Osmanthus and Spirea arguta are flowering again. A very strange year .

Reflection shot of a little backwater off of the Nechako River. Red-osier dogwoods, Highbush Cranberry, Spirea in the front. Then Green Alder, Saskatoon, Black Hawthorn, Cottonwoods and Conifers. I have taken many pictures of this site; sometimes foliage, sometimes wildlife.

I’m not usually a fan of spirea, but she is beautiful!

Glow Girl Spirea. I anticipate her beauty all season long.

Then the freeze will come.

It's a good old life.

Riding a bicycle to work does not stop me from taking home native plants that would otherwise be trashed for restoration work. Also, drivers seem to give me more space when I have a whole shrub sticking out the back. Plants > people, as they say. #nativeplants #onelesscar

This white spirea (I think?) plant outside the building I had training in this week made me do a double take from the colors. I'm not use to "shrubs" being this pretty this time of year.

Unseasonably early night time temperatures of -10C (14F) spoiled many potential fall shoots in my area. One that we all look forward to, when conditions are right, is the 'ring of fire' at Goodsir Park. So these shots are from October 8, 2022 when conditions were perfect.
