It's #SkinCancerAwarenessMonth 2025 and as someone currently undergoing treatment for Stage 2C melanoma, this month means a great deal to me.

We need to be more open about cancer and its through raising awareness and talking about our journeys that we can come together and support one another.

It's #SkinCancerAwarenessMonth, so I should probably post.

My melanoma story is super boring, which is a testament to why regular skin checks with a dermatologist are so important. Early detection means a dermatologist copay, late stage melanoma can kill.

TL;DR, stop listening to influencers telling you that there's such a thing as a healthy "base tan" or that not using sun protection is good for you. It's going to cause premature aging and put you at increased cancer risk. #SkinCancerAwarenessMonth

Friendly reminder. We'll soon be going into the summer months. Protect your skin. Use sun screen.

Skin cancer is no joke and totally preventable. A tan is your skin creating more melanin to protect from UV damage. Wear factor 50!

#SkinCancerAwarenessMonth seems like a good time to say that the reason I didn't use self-tanner is because tanning is a beauty standard that should be relegated to the dustbin of history along with lead-based makeup, and fake tan perpetuates that standard.
