I was reading the @metoffice.bsky.social weather warning to my son who asked for a "translation into English". Why no #SimpleEnglish version if you want to reach all?
“Welcome to Antarctica Refugee Camp 7, please proceed to processing”, the loudspeakers proclaim in Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, SimpleEnglish and a handful of other languages. I can tell she doesn’t understand any of them, but she doesn’t look stressed the way most newcomers do.
