The world would be immensely better if more religions and their believers had even a tenth of the dedication the Sikhs do to doing good for people with no gatekeeping or expectations of anything other than "you are a fellow human in need and we can help you"
Folks, if you are hungry, please contact your local Sikh gurdwara. Or just show up for langar, which most gurdwaras do several times a week, for a free meal. Lots also do weekly or monthly drives giving out groceries.
No conversion necessary. Feeding anyone who is hungry is a key part of Sikhism.

A lady on TikTok has been calling churches pretending to be a mother with a baby who needs formula and several churches turned her away. But wouldn’t you know that when she called a Mosque (Islamic Center of Charlotte) they immediately said yes.

Seriously, if you have a Sikh gurdwara in your area please let people know about this. We have at least one here in Detroit Metro that I know of. Bonus is that Sikhs are, on the whole, extremely rad people.

Yep, in the UK Sikhs are always turning up with food in response to need.

Sikhs are not vegetarians, but most langar meals are veg so that strangers (traditionally often Hindus) won’t be excluded.
The main gurdwara in Amritsar is the largest soup kitchen in the world, feeding 50,000-100,000 people everyday.

Sultana's reply. Have also sent Fox a message noting he is becoming more overtly racist. When he apologised for his ignorance about Sikhs in the first world war, he seemed to briefly understand something about the world wars and Remembrance

This week, Sikhs here in Nepean and around the world celebrated Gurpurab, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Thank you to the Ottawa Sikh Society Gurdwara Sahib for the warm welcome, delicious langar and inviting us to join in this special celebration.

Christian religions design their charitable activity as recruitment & enforcement mechanisms, for Sikhs it's far more ideological expression of a belief system.

The Sikhs have it right.
If you show up at a Gurdwara, and ask you get fed. You can show up in a $2,000 suit, no one asks, you just get fed.
To ask that people humble themselves by justifying their need is about the most anti-spiritual and soul crushing thing I can think of.

Sikhs are the reason my mother was able to feed me and my siblings when we were literally down-and-out broke; I have nothing but the greatest gratitude and respect for them.

Honouring more than 100,000 Sikh soldiers who fought for Britain during WW1, the 1914 Sikhs Ceremonial Marching Troop, a new military troop, was launched last month at Wellington Barracks last month.

I'm a Sikh convert, and even before they knew I was there *for* the religion and belief, they welcomed me and fed me. In fact, the fact that the langar are vegetarian even though Sikhs aren't technically asked to be, just so they can feed more people, was a big part of *why* I was inspired to join.

In the Canadian war cemetery at Ravenna in Italy there are so many Canadian and Sikh graves. The Sikhs were side by side with the Canadians in the brutal battles through Italy.
They have served with valour in our armed forces.

At a huge pro-Palestine protest I went to a bunch of young Sikhs showed up with a truck full of cases and cases of water to hand out. They weren’t with any organization, they didn’t put up a sign for their gurdwara or hand out leaflets with the water, they just showed up and handed out water. 🙏

Absolutely disgusted to hear about the racism Wes Streeting mentions here directed at school children who were visiting Parliament.
He has taken the post down, rightly, to protect the children.
But it's wrong that he had to do it.
Disgusted with so many people in our country. Racism is never OK.

It's like I've heard of Sikhs being beat up because people think they're Muslim. (Beating up is never ok; I'm just saying it's another big misidentification).

It’s really telling in this country trying to push Christian Nationalism as if it has anything to do with Jesus, that the only religious groups actually helping their neighbors without judgement in crises like these are LGBTQ-affirming Unitarian churches, Black Christian churches, mosques and Sikhs…
The world would be immensely better if more religions and their believers had even a tenth of the dedication the Sikhs do to doing good for people with no gatekeeping or expectations of anything other than "you are a fellow human in need and we can help you"

The demographics of where I’ve lived in my life have meant that unfortunately the various interfaith projects I’ve worked on have not included Sikhs, so I acknowledge that I am working from a surface-level understanding, but when people talk about “holy envy” I have a lot of it for Sikhism
