The “Fukufuku” bus to Fukuoka was operated by Sanden Kotsu.

Their buses have adorable pufferfish illustrations 🐡

They seem to use a mix of highway and former charter buses on this route. 🚍

the vision in the 1930s Japanese "Bullet Train" Plan is kinda breathtaking and definitely a relic of its time and empire
The project was proposed to use high powered steam and/or electric locomotives hauling passenger and freight trains running up to 150kph and, perhaps later on, up to 200kph. The first section of line to open would be from Tokyo via Nagoya/Osaka and run north of the Inland Sea to Shimonoseki, on the western end of Honshu just north of Kita-kyushu. In the future this line could be extended beyond the Japanese home islands to the Korean Peninsula, Manchuria and China via an undersea tunnel under the Korean Strait. It will allow sleeper Bullet Trains using this line to reach Seoul, Shenyang and Beijing from Tokyo in just over 24 hours, maybe less if 200kph speeds are realized. Even grander plans envisioned broad gauge trunk line trains to reach Western Europe (and connect with their “broad gauge” system) and Southeast Asia.

I continued my journey by train on the Sanyō Line to Shin-Shimonoseki 🚆

The yellow 115 series train had a lovely, nostalgic vibe 🍀

Opportunities to ride it are getting rare, so I felt lucky to catch it this time 😊
