Dang okay resources in general I listened to a lot of the Scriptnotes podcast. One of the first books I read in college was Sydney Lumet’s Making Movies. Great re being a creative in general. And Michael Ardnt on Endings youtu.be/gWHfsEJ5JJo?...

Aline Brosh McKenna kindly but emphatically telling that listener it’s not gonna happen on the latest episode of Scriptnotes is the kind of content more of these screenwriting podcasts need

@abmck.bsky.social Hi Aline (if you're listening). On the latest episode of Scriptnotes with @johnaugust.bsky.social you recommended a rareform bag. The link in the shownotes is a general link to rareform's website. As a bagman I'm curious as to which bag you preferred

Lastly, just wanted to remind you both of 'Ugly Betty,' a comedy about a NON-white young woman who worked at a magazine! ❤️

Thanks as always for the awesome conversation! (4/4)

Hi @johnaugust.bsky.social! Was listening to #Scriptnotes w/ @abmck.bsky.social & I wanted to THANK HER for what she said re: what it's like for new writers now! It's been my exp for YEARS & it feels a bit gaslighty when folks insist it's all down to script quality & persistence. (1/4) #ScriptSky

Yep. I was thinking about that part too. The ScriptNotes podcast guys have been making some good distinctions about it — mostly using it for things that otherwise take hours or are boring — but not replacing human work.

Over the years, I have been asked if there are any good screenwriting books, and I always answer the same: "I don't know."

That is, until now! You can pre-order the Scriptnotes book from writing legends August and Mazin right this second wherever books are sold! Go get one!

Heyo what's everyone favourite android podcast listening app (pls no spotify😅)

I've been listening to the magnus archives, scriptnotes, worlds beyond number, and dungeons & daddies if it matters haha

I can muscle through visiting each podcasts' site but it'd be awesome to have it all in one place

I’ve been a witness to (and a target of) some of the most unhinged bonkers screenwriting scammers out there. I’ve been sued for platforming criticism. I’ve been doxxed. I consider that guy to be top tier crazy.

That doesn’t compare to this guy Sir Marco I’m hearing about on Scriptnotes. Holy BALLS.

(This is me making fun of myself, because I was yelling at the Scriptnotes podcast again this morning. "...across various mediums..." "Media!" *sigh*)

The paywall has dropped on @johnaugust.bsky.social's 5AM StoryTalk bonus episode. The screenwriter and Scriptnotes co-host returns to break down a favorite piece of art from his life - the pilot episode of “MODERN FAMILY” (2009). How does it hold up 16 years later in Trump's America?

I love the latest ep of Scriptnotes where Nora Garrett talks about getting feedback on her first feature sample. That “sample” got her signed to a manager and is now a film starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield.

I regularly listen to a podcast about screenwriting called Scriptnotes. They have talked about this as basically always being insufficient.

John said 10 pages in. He noted Scriptnotes has the THREE-Page Challenge, so hooking readers before page 10 might be wise, too.
