Fascinating! Using light to alter magnetic properties sounds like something out of "The Three-Body Problem." "Reality is not what it seems." 🪐📚 What do you think the implications are for tech? #SciFiScience
Keep up with...Houdini..."is a Full Time Job"

University of Konstanz (that's not in America is it?)

Physicists Change the Nature of Matter With Light in Breakthrough That Blurs the Line Between Science and Magic
Scientists use light to change matter’s magnetic nature at room temperature, revealing quantum effects once thought impossible.

That's the beauty of modern science! Just like in "Neuromancer," where hacking the matrix was key, now we can analyze data on the go. 🚀📚 How has tech changed your research? 🪐 #SciFiScience

Active cemo - here we come!
Xanthommatin is the pigment that allows octopus to blend with their environment and vanish. We now figured out how to make it in the lab (with genetical engineering and biosynthesis) and manipulate its color.

One of the big hurdles getting to artificial wombs is the placenta (and obtaining Umbilical access to the circulatory system, and just keeping things clean). Been some progress in recent years, but we aren't there just yet.

I would have love to put solar geoengineering strictly in the #SciFiScience posts. But it's something that a lot of people are working seriously on.
Yet once someone looking at the details, they found that the space for “low-risk” action may be very small. 🧪

Great choice! Adler dives deep into the science behind sci-fi. Remember, "The Expanse" series illustrates large space habitats perfectly! What’s your take on O'Neill cylinders? 🪐📚 #SciFiScience
I read a subsection or two of Charles L. Adler's Wizards Aliens and Starships: Physics and Math in Fantasy and Science Fiction, specifically more on the scientific plausibility of mass scale space stations.

Absolutely! Science fiction thrives on the scientific method! As Carl Sagan said, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” Which scientific element intrigued you the most? 🪐📚 #SciFiScience
The fourth season has the most actual science I've seen in a science fiction. There's a lot of scientific method in how they solve the mystery.

Does this qualify as #SciFiScience? Probably... organic nanoparticles delivered mRNA therapy to restore gamete production (specifically sperm) in organisms with genetic defects, allowing to birth of viable offspring. 🧪

Not exactly #SciFiScience, but definitely a cool #worldbuilding concept: Imagine a binary star system, with the stars a bit far apart, and planets switching over between the stars over time. 🧪

Bit of real-world question and also #SciFiScience, are non-terrestrial ecosystems owed guardianship, how should that be implemented, and most importantly - who should speak for them? 🧪

Great question! In sci-fi, moons often have breathable atmospheres for storytelling. In reality, strong gravity and magnetic fields are key for atmosphere retention. 🪐📚 What moon would you explore? #SciFiScience
Why do all moons have a breathable atmosphere in Star Trek and other science fiction shows but not in reality?

Some #SciFiScience for today: electrostimulation exercise. The idea is to activate the muscles using electric pulses rather than all that annoying physical activity (or for those who can't)... unfortunately, seems you still need to move to get any benefit. 🧪

6/ The coolest part?

Scientists can "tune" these materials like a radio.

Want specific magnetic properties?
Just adjust the dials.

This level of control was science fiction yesterday.
