I remember watching the first 2 “Neverending Story” films a lot as a kid b/c they were always shown whenever HBO did one of those “free weekends/weeks”. Also, the “Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer” film

Despite the intent to have “The Neverending Story 2” to cover the second half of the book ,after all of the legal fights with author Michael Ende the film veered away from the book is a few major ways like having Bastian's father read the book. etc

All of the child actors had to be recast due to aging and the adults were recast due to them having long since moved on from the production- with the exception of Thomas Hill, who plays Koreander the bookkeeper in all 3 films.

If Bastian and his dad look different that’s because Bastian is now played by the dearly missed Jonathan Brandis instead of Barret Oliver and his dad changed actors from to Gerald McRaney to John Wesley Shipp

Despite some drama over the screenplay (the author claims it was rewritten by the studio,etc) & costing about $28 million USD to make. It did well at both the box office & w/critics which is why a second film was put into production. We’ll be watching that film next week

Falkor is a 43-foot long motorized creature with 6,000+ plastic scales and pink feather-fur. His head is three feet tall and his eye really blink! A large team of operators had to be on hand to make sure it all worked when it was supposed to.
