There will no doubt be a flush of fungi associated with ash and general dead wood (and saproxylic beetles, woodpeckers etc). But it'll be short lived, and ash dependents will need to find a new home.

Not my usual fayre of carded beetle but a pinned fly and a rather scarce one of ancient woodland, Pandivirilia melaleuca. Stumbled across it whilst have a rummage, 2015, Worcestershire. #Diptera #Saproxylic #Therevidae

Also, 4 the record: since saproxylic gardening is significantly rarer than pollinator gardening, I greatly encourage adding logs to one's garden because as long as few enough people are doing it anthropogenic genotypes that evolve cannot establish a lasting population nor genetically pollute.

Europe's understanding of saproxylic systems is strangely well-developed, which in turn indicates healthy sociocultural "ecosystems" allowing saproxyle researchers to thrive. Whether or not you live in Europe it's undoubtedly worth extrapolating principles from.
