Remembering a great SFS meeting! We had a great time sharing our research at the 2025 meeting of the Society for Freshwater Science. It was a special meeting for us, as it took place in Puerto Rico for the first time.

A special session at SFS-2025 in honor of our doctoral mentor, Dr. Cathy Pringle. She was also recognized as a Fellow of the Society for Freshwater Science.

We had a great time in Puerto Rico sharing memories and reconnecting with past members of the Pringle lab!

As a naturalist, I treasure meeting the non-human denizens of any new place I travel. This past week, I got to set foot in an island tropical rainforest for the first time in years thanks to #SFS2025 in Puerto Rico. What stunning forests!

Ever wonder what the common coquí (Eleutherodactylus coqui) looks like? Here are some great photos from #SFS2025 attendee @gulothoughts.bsky.social
We hope your travels home were safe, relaxing, and you are revitalized. Thank you for a week of #inspo
Prior to #SFS2025, I was honored to meet one of Puerto Rico’s most eminent freshwater experts, the common coquí (Eleutherodactylus coqui) 😍🐸

I had the wonderful opportunity to present my research on the drivers of macroinvertebrate taxa & functional traits in vernal ponds at the annual @freshwaterscience.bsky.social meeting this past week! I hope everyone who joined “Club Pond” had a wonderful time 😊

Our PhD student, Anna Equisuany, is back in the lab after successfully presenting #SFS2025 results showing that different types of fragmentation impact biodiversity — both taxonomically and functionally.

Yes, fragmentation type does matter!!!

#eDNA dinner at #sfs2025 #2025sfs is apparently going down tonight at 6pm at the Medalla sports bar near the convention center. Come construct a double helix out of French fries with me!
I just heard rumors about an #eDNA lunch at the @freshwaterscience.bsky.social meeting. Shout-out if you are here and want to make this happen!

In case you’re trying to get to a specific talk, the current set of #SFS2025 talks have all been pushed back by 15 minutes. Today’s poster session will begin at 3:45 pm. The Endowment Reception and Education & Diversity and Teacher Mixers will still start on time as per the program.

#SFS2025! Let’s talk about urban groundwater! Come see me at 2:45 at the Intermittent, Ephemeral Systems and Surfacewater/Groundwater Interactions 2.0 superhub.

Let’s mellow out with a little interdisciplinary science as we discuss Green Stormwater-Informed Urban Groundwater monitoring Networks!
