hi y'all, what distro[s] do you use? soundrop increased their prices at some point, amuse is paid-only, landr is still more expensive than soundrop even now, labelengine is for labels, and routenote hardly even works anymore. are there any cheap distribution services left that aren't subscriptions?

They are all the same but the common denominator is Spotify.
We’re also with Routenote and have now had 5 releases removed from all streamers thanks to random bots on Spotify.
Best thing to do if you want to stay on streaming is to deselect the Spotify option when uploading to your distro.

Almost exactly what I told Routenote (see below). It's just where most people seem to listen to music though so I want to put my stuff there. But I'm not going to lose any sleep if they take it off.

What's the best distributer? I did use Routenote, but they just removed my album (for unsolicited "Bot" plays), told me to contact Spotify. Spotify told me to contact my distributer. So I'm not using them any more. Out of spite 😤

Tried RouteNote to distribute an art project album of songs about Greek myths & they would not distribute it - wasted my time.
I just looked at Distrokid and CDBaby.
While Distro is good for bulk, I'm leaning toward CDBaby bc it's more artist centric tho pricier on a per song basis.

If Spotify screwing over artists and paying artists nearly nothing ( RouteNote ’s in on it too) wasn’t enough this is the icing on the cake. Support the artists you like through Bandcamp or physical releases!

Routenote, the music provider we use, has been giving us crap for our obvious parody of Kendrick Lamar's DAMN., ours titled "DARN.". Section 107 of the Copyright Act of 1976 proves that we can in fact use our image, though they forced my hand and DARN. will have an alternate cover.

Good luck- we had a nightmare putting compilations through RouteNote - including out most successful compilation being taken down because Spotify flagged one song for out performing the rest of the album. It was by the biggest artist on the album and it spiked after they plugged it on their socials
