Alternative (i.e., non-US) destinations for Canadian snowbirds include Australia, Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Portugal, Philippines, and Thailand. Even Vancouver Island (tho I wouldn’t recommend it).

Roatan, the largest of Honduras' Bay Islands. An English-speaking island, it is around 59 kilometres in length and about 8 kilometres at its widest point. It is the closest Caribbean island destination for snowbirds travelling from Canada's western provinces.
