The official statement from team kanohii regarding the Masks of power; They received permission multiple times over 8 years from Lego, but received a cease and desist 3 months before release.

If Bionicle Masks of Power were to be released it could bring in a whole new generation of fans and revive a beloved IP that was popular back then. It could even expand the G1 lore instead of having it fade into oblivion which is a total Nintendo move. #RestoreTheMasksOfPower
