#ResearchAdvent
I discovered during #ResearchAdvent that I'm not good at daily posts but I wanted to keep up a regimen of posting at least a couple of times per week. Therefore, I designed a series of monthly themes that I will follow. Feel free to join me! #AcademicSky #EduSky #CogSci #PsychSciSky 1/8

Day 24

I'm looking forward to be free from research obligations once again. It's just three more papers and I will be able to start working on whatever I want. And that's exactly what I'm looking forward to!

Day 23

In six months I hope to be resting after the most exhausting academic year of my life. That's all I ask for!!

Day 22

The perfect gift for a researcher is... Time! There's never enough time!
Jokes aside, researchers are people. And while someone might be that that they do, I would rather take a present that is directed to my hobbies rather than something that would help me on my work

Day 21

I would argue that CompSci does not have theoretical frameworks. There are certain hypothesis linked to how we understand things a la Thomas Khun? Of course! But nothing that I can really put into words.

Day 20

I'd like to meet anybody. I'm at a point in which I'm way over heroes. I don't really care about any one that is famous. I just want to meet the most random person that is increidibly passionate about something. That's it!

Day 19

My approach to analysis is pretty simple: Be as rigorous as you can and then some! If you deal with data as I do, you need to take a step back and understood everything as a whole for later go piece by piece as methodically as possible

Day 18

My main motivation these days is just stability. That's what I'm working towards. And I know I can get if I just push a bit more. But at the same time, I'm looking forward to moment in the future in which I can just something that really gets me going!

Day 17

It's hard to talk about rest and health when I have spent the holidays working non-stop. But I'm taking my health way more seriously than I did when I was in my 20's. And for sure, as soon as I can I plan to rest for a really long while!

Day 24 #ResearchAdvent I am
looking forward to … doing this again next year! It’s a great way to see how my understanding has developed year to year. Hopefully next time I’ll be clearer on theoretical framework, methodology and analysis.

First time I did it I didn’t know what these things were. 😎🤘

Day 22 #ResearchAdvent The perfect gift for a researcher is…belief in your ability to achieve the PhD you’ve always dreamt of.

And books. Obviously.

From my Dad for Christmas. 💜📚

Day 24 of #ResearchAdvent 🎄

I'm looking forward to the new tasks that await me next year - it will certainly be challenging at some point, but it will be a year full of new experiences to learn from and grow. 🔥

Also, I’m looking forward to spending time in the snow soon. ❄️

Merry Christmas!
Day 23 of #ResearchAdvent

In 6 months, I’ll be on my way home from the Psychology and Brain 🧠 conference in Würzburg 🚅
Day 22 of #ResearchAdvent 🎄

The perfect gift for a researcher might be time for undisturbed sciencing, or a mug with their latest article 📝 printed on it, or just an entertaining book to let their minds wander. I recently got Christmas on Lindworm Castle by Walter Moers 📖 which made me quite happy.

I asked my daughter what was special about today, and she said ‘It’s Christmas Eve!!! I said ‘No, it’s the final day of #ResearchAdvent!’ It’s been a great and thought provoking experience to post about research every day. And lovely to read other people’s posts.

Now back to actual Christmas Eve…

Ending on this:

Research isn't just for academics in HEI/HEPs. It's open to ANYBODY with the curiosity and determination to find something out. We must challenge ourselves to see the broader opportunities, possibilities and perspectives.

We will become better researchers for it.

I am looking forward to finishing the damn book. I am going to be so happy when I have a full draft - it'll obviously need redrafting, but just seeing it be a real thing in the world will be amazing.

Happy #ResearchAdvent to everyone!
