I caught up with the Chester Cup match between Larne and Randalstown on Saturday afternoon at the Glynn. The Larne pitch looked in excellent conditions for the annual challenge match which traditionally starts my club rugby coverage for the season but, it was a bit warm for too much running around and the match was played over four 20 minute quarters to ensure adequate refreshment.

I caught up with the School/Club Window U16 Blitz at Academy RFC, Roughfort, early Saturday morning. The competition featured Teams from Academy (2), Ards, Belfast Harlequins, BHSFP, CIYMS, Lisburn and Randalstown which was broken down into 2 pools of four teams for the pool round robin stage. There was a final playoff round where 1A played 1B, 2A played 2B etc.

We caught up with the McCambley Cup match between Academy 3XV and Randalstown 3XV at Roughfort on Saturday afternoon. In a very even match, it was the home side who got off to a great start when scrum half, Chris Cooper went over early on, converting his own try to put Academy in front 7 - 0.
