Politics but I find radfem/lesbian ‘magically the most marginalised’ stuff annoying as someone who was sexually and psychologically abused as a minor by a lesbian. And has had friends exposed to this type of abuse. im open to learning but I have found nothing that demystifies abusive lesbianism.

The reason that modern societies have so much trouble dealing with "private" forms of abuse is that the idea that you, as an individual, have a right to state protection against your spouse or father or family or community is relatively new, and depends on an impersonal system of justice.

I checked the citation and saw it was a 1970s radfem book, so I was expecting worse but it does seem like an attempt at a romeo and juliet law. The paraphrasing in Instead of Prisons is either insane or insidious, not sure which.

they published a few other radfem books after hers. they thought it was the very progressive thing to do at the time. kinda stopped around the nineties and they've just never spoke about it since.

The flaws (imo) I could pick out are the way it tries to read itself as a sorta feminist-leaning book, confining men to this specific sort of evil or socialization that they could Not redeem themselves from, because ngl it borders on being a bit too radfem but idk
