I think the other commenter answered your question about the implications pretty well, but the impact on the story isn't really the crux of the issue for me. For me, I think raceswaps are a tired and overused trope when it comes to representation. I don't think it's true black representation either.

People call things woke when it forces an agenda or raceswaps/genderswaps already existing characters, not for simply having women and minority characters. Youre strawmaning.

I am a little annoyed by it, yeah. It's more of a principle thing than caring about this specific story though. I think black people deserve to have real black characters, rather than raceswaps.
