The government's Vision Zero ambition (for zero deaths and serious injuries) has been pushed back by 10 years to 2050.

There is a danger that the new target will mean once again it won’t be prioritised despite the rhetoric.

DfT claim RIS3 "will have a far greater focus than earlier RISs on":
- maintenance & renewal
- local road integration
- modal choice for long distance
- active travel
- public transport for shorter journeys
would be more convincing if they stopped announcing mega-road schemes.

The integrated national transport strategy is still alive it seems - though not yet living enough to influence much at this stage. This is all RIS3 has to say on it
The Integrated National Transport Strategy, which is currently in development, seeks to improve the strategic coordination of various transportation modes in England. RIS3 is being developed in parallel with the INTS and we will ensure coordination between both programmes to achieve long term goals such as decarbonisation and breaking barriers to opportunity.

I'm aware there was another crash at Llynclys Crossroads this morning and I hope everyone involved is OK.

This week I met Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood to make the case for upgrading the junction.

Designs are in place - we just need the funding from the Government to be included for RIS3.
