#RC2014
I've some more PCB Pin Badges available (SAM Coupe, Commie 64/16/VIC and new Rubber Keyed Speccy) available: www.samcoupe.com/quickshop.htm

They all help add a few extra quid to the development kitty towards the ongoing projects I've got underway for #SAMCoupe, #ZXSpectrum, #RC2014, #Retrocomputing

While the #SAMCoupe is what I focus most of my time developing hardware, software and magazines for I also make #Hardware for #RC2014 and the #ZXSpectrum.

Soundtracker music for the ZX Spectrum 128K/+2/+3 was amazing! I made an add-on "ZX True Tone (ZXTT)" for Ed Brindley's #RC2014 YM/AY Soundcard to give it the exact same clock frequency as used by the #ZXSpectrum so AY tunes could be played on RC setups and sound perfect.

No, those are 80-pin RCBus ports, for RC2014-type systems, usually built around the Z80 or derivatives.

I love kit computers. #RC2014, SC500, whatever. They're all great.

But they all share one great big annoyance: Putting them in a case. I hate how much work it is to find or fabricate a suitable enclosure. And I'm comfortable with tools.

Great to see my new SAA1099P Soundchip Interface (for #RC2014 and compatibles) in use playing some fab music from the #SAMCoupe on the #ZXSpectrum (via a ZX-RC Bus Adapter). Nice work!

I've got the SAA1099P Interfaces ready in stock -> 2014.samcoupe.com

Here’s another nice SAA tune; this time playing on my 48K Spectrum (with Microdrive and Interface 1) using @samcoupe.com’s SAA1099P interface and bus adapter. I’m using a new faster playback routine by Anton Javorček here, it sounds great! 🔊🔊

Thanks to a suggestion from @cobracommander.bsky.social earlier in the year, the SAA1099P soundchip is available as my newest interface for #RC2014 and compatibles! Use the same fab soundchip as the #SAMCoupe on other Z80 systems!

This idea for a RISC-V machine similar to RC2014 seemed like a good one so I've been thinking about it for the last few days.

I've put together a rough plan for how it might be done - I'm interested in what people think!

Also useful if you get yourself an RC2014 kit.

If you're going to switch from 5v to 3.3v either you need to make the bus physically incompatible or at least, make the rc2014 5v pins n/c and move the 3.3v rails to currently unused pins. Otherwise I foresee lots of fried chips!

Not that different to playing with my RC2014 Orton 3C with the extra ports I've added :-)

Quite pleased with this subroutine which converts the unsigned number in DE into decimal. #Z80 #RC2014

I've been working a bit more on my #RetroChallenge, getting an #RC2014 to talk to a NES controller.

In my latest post, I explain how I've used Z80 assembly language to work out which buttons are being pressed and to print this back over the serial terminal.

In this article I bit-bang an NES controller from my RC2014 using Z80 assembly language. The results are then sent to the serial terminal.

More work on the #RC2014 NES controller #RetroChallenge this evening.

I have designed a circuit and PCB that should allow me to bit-bang the NES controller from my RC2014 computer.

It's official, I'm taking part in this year's #RetroChallenge

I'm planning on getting an NES controller working with my #RC2014 computer.

For this year’s RetroChallenge, I am hoping to interface an NES / Famicon controller to my RC2014 computer. The NES controller has 8 buttons: Up, Down, Left, Right, Select, Start, A, and B. The cable ...

Or you could build a fully ZX81 compatible DIY kit if you still have a hankering to play 3D Monster Maze on real hardware.

The kit is also available from z80kits.com so you can pick one up when you're getting your RC2014 bits.

More code, more switches, more LEDs. The monitor code is now in the EPROM. It copies itself down to 0000h so it runs directly from a reset. I've also found a rather nifty Linux hex-editor called hexcurse. #RC2014

Finished building the upgraded RC2014.

I'll power it on tomorrow probably.

Just back from #rc2014 assemble...

Superb day lots of people to talk to and lots of great talks.

Thanks to Spencer @peteronion.bsky.social and @tnmoc.bsky.social for organising.

I'm looking forward to meeting all the RC2014 enthusiasts who are coming to the inaugural RC2014 Assembly at @tnmoc.bsky.social today.
