I think it actually depends on the amount of space per passenger. Some cruise ships really do feel like you're playing sardines. On the QM2 the ship can be fully booked and you feel like there's lots of space (of course the QM2 also has a wraparound deck, which is a great way to no feel shut in!)

Though I've had numerous characters cross the Atlantic--including a super steamy crossing on the QM2--I'd have to select Margaret Treacy's 1870s crossing in steerage from Queenstown to New York.

The maneuverability of most of them is pretty amazing. Zaandam excluded…that thing is a floating tank and needs a wide space to turn around. Lol. The QM2 is also not quite as nimble as her counterparts
