Fly along the San Andreas Fault in Southern California from the Cajon pass to Palmdale.

Faults are rarely one single fault strand; they are often broad areas of deformation called fault zones.

Lots of critical infrastructure like highways, powerlines, and railroads cross the San Andreas Fault.

last couple times i had a post breach containment, it was my powerlines illustrations, and you would not believe the number of comments that essentially said “why would you ruin a nice drawing with those ugly powerlines” lmfao

Hey pals in the route of this cold snap, especially the northern regions: charge your external power packs!

The trees here in central Ohio are still covered in wet, heavy leaves. Snow is going to snap branches more than it would in winter, taking out powerlines

Over 170 million Americans brace for big freeze sending temperatures near record lows as far south as Florida
Over 170 million Americans across 35 states will see temperatures drop below freezing into next week as a massive cold front brings a hint of winter weather early.

I love this time of year so much. I thought I'd have more time to take pictures. The artic blast came in and cleared most of the trees of their leaves. 🥶

It was gorgeous out there tonight - after this we climbed a local mountain in the dark to get a better view

Got some dog treats that are hard as stones, so I’ve been taking them on walks and feeding crows.

Most hammer them to bits on the street, one tried dropping them from powerlines, but this morning a real smarty carefully placed each treat into a puddle, and waited for them to soften. 🖤

i just remember one time my wife and i were in our old apartment chanting ROCK AND ROLL MCDONALDS... ROCK AND ROLL MCDONALDS.... and then there was a screech and an explosion outside & our power went out & a car had crashed and taken out the powerlines so we didnt have power for like 12 hrs

First I’ve ever seen them, or at least this strong, in northern Utah. Loving it!

you can pry my reply limits from my cold dead hands. I would simply stop posting entirely before going back to this

Just before midnight, right in our Columbus, Ohio, backyard—and you could see the aurora borealis with your sleepy eyes. I’m usually distressed to wake up mid-sleep. Not tonight. #aurora

🌨️❄️Today's Montreal snow is not the nice kind: it is sticky and heavy and wet.
So some trees/branches and powerlines are collapsing.

I love snow but this one is not very cool.

Be careful out there you all.

Those people suck lol!!! This gives me such great nostalgia for staying at my brother's place back home in sk over the holidays. His neighbourhood is a cozy lil alley of a bunch of old homes connected by powerlines like these

Strong fall weather systems commonly bring high winds to the U.S. If driving during windy conditions, slow down and keep two hands on the wheel, avoid large trucks and trailers, and watch for downed tree branches or other items in the road.
