So in this case, I didn't really write a plainEnglish description for this change. Q So you attached a link instead, or? A Yeah, it's a link to an image hosted on MemeGen. Q And is that -- was that acceptable from your understanding at the time, to just link to an image rather than give an actual description? A It was fairly common for MemeGen changes. You know, the product is kind of meant in a humorous vein. And so often, our change descriptions would be jokes, or links to images, or something like that. Q Okay. A You know, sometimes, there were, you know, plain-English descriptions, as well. But they certainly weren't -- that wasn't the case all of the time. Q Okay, and I see at the end it says "template field_of_FCKS2"; do you happen to recall what that link led to, what that was? A Yes. It's an image that was a meme template. And the images one -- I don't recall 100 percent the exact wording, and it includes a swear word. But it's basically something along the lined (sic) of, you know -- it's, like, medieval artwork that says something like, behold my field of fucks, it is barren, or something like that. You know, so it's basically, I don't -- I don't give an F. Q I see, okay. I think I may have seen that somewhere. I don't know. Did you -- anyway. Were you -- did managers know that you linked -- that your description was a link to that meme? A I'm unsure. It's -- it's possible, but I don't really have a way of knowing that. Q Okay. Were you ever disciplined for using that type of description in your code change? A No. Q Okay. Up until the time that you left, was it your -- was it your under- -- what was your understanding with respect to what you could do with -- in filing in a description for a code change? A I -- I don't think there were any, you know, formal, exact requirements that applied across all of Google. Certainly, it's, you know, courteous for the change to, you know -- or for the description to say a little bit about what the change is trying to do and why. Sometimes, there are certain tags that some teams require in the description where, you know, you might have to associate every change with a bug or something like that. But that was not the case for MemeGen, and that was a very, like, team-specific policy of what stuff needed to be in the description for a change list. Q Okay. During your employment, were you aware of anyone being disciplined for the manner in which they wrote the description on their code change? A Not to my knowledge. MS. BURGESS: Okay. Both public defender offices and law schools fully fail at equipping us to truly engage with, support, and educate clients. I have 0 training in how to interact with someone with a developmental disability, who engages in sexually inappropriate/aggressive behavior, or in active psychosis.
