Curious and friendly, handled safe as houses, large, fuzzy spider, just under an inch (22 mm) long, with a gray body, patterned with white spots and stripes. She has very large, forward-facing eyes that provide excellent vision, and her small, leg-like mouthparts (chelicerae) are covered in dense, soft, white hairs, like much the rest of her. Her fangs appear irridescent purple, green and blue.

Found this lovely Bold Jumping Spider in the garage. They were very docile and not moving much, I’m not sure if they were just cold, or reaching the end of their life. Regardless, we sat together for a while.

I am out taking photos of rain drops on roses and who should show up but an adorable, multi-eyed Hairy Tufted Jumping Spider (Phidippus comatus), peeking around the rain covered petals. You never know who will say hi in the garden.

Here's my two apache girls that I recently got from a collector in Texas. I'm hoping at least one of these beauties produces a good eggsac. This is a late summer to fall-maturing species. In cooler climates, females will overwinter and produce eggsacs in spring. 🌿 #Phidippus #apacheanus #inverts
