#PathOS
(To make this extra confusing, the new thing here is the Board Game Arcs and the thing that borrows the Board Game’s Hero Quest’s pathos framework is the video game Dark Quest)

Yeah, it's so good. All the stories are given so much pathos and weight

ld been wondering how pathos ended up meaning disease and as far as l can tell etiology (how it started) was grouped together with pathology (how it progresses) enough that the terms became interchangeable and then the latter morphed into an umbrella
here is a piece about the history of the term 'pathology'. did they put the whole article into the 'abstract' section? is that why it's no longer on the live site?

Donald Trump trying to pressure other nations into buying American fossil fuels is amusing pathos.

The dike holding back renewables is leaking in 1000 places and Uncle Sam has run out of fingers and toes. China is bringing a backhoe.
Ethiopia last year banned the import of new gasoline-powered cars. Nepal reduced import duties on EVs so much that they are now cheaper than cars with internal combustion engines. Brazil raised tariffs on car imports to compel Chinese automakers to set up plants inside Brazil. Etc

I don’t know if Vivienne Medrano and team asked, “What if we make James Bond the Bond villain,” but it’s how Christian Borle is answering in Hazbin Hotel. The pathos. The sadism. The charisma. The sex. He is such an evil and magnetic feast, an audiovisual cornucopia of animated delight.

I like Fall of Cadia as a book because it feels so consequential. Not only does Bastonne, a two-bit side character die, but Jarran Kell dies too. Death is a great narrative tool for drama and pathos, but in the galaxy of unending war, sometimes you just die, without reason or noble sacrifice.

And nailed it! Always loved the pathos of Carpet too, off one of the best titled albums in aus music history

Le très autobiographique « Les Rêveurs » d’Isabelle Carré avait tout du projet pathos balisé mais la comédienne réalisatrice tire le meilleur de sa mise en scène sobre et inventive et de son très bon casting de jeunes, film charmant et touchant

this episode was my very first introduction to Starro! What an introduction! He truly is a Justice League level threat but i loved how this episode gave some pathos to the character. He just misses his home.

@jamesgunn.bsky.social would use this aspect in his suicide squad movie years later!

Yes! Ahhhh, it’s truly one of the funniest and most pathetic—like, in the sense of ~achingly~ full of fucking pathos for his colossally cringe striver divorced-guy energy and trappings—episodes of television I’ve ever seen.

Re: hyper. 39 starts rather than 39 states is a tell of elevated HR and BP due to NOT being a fat-fingered error.
People subscribing to logos-ethos-pathos are more likely than not to demonstrate equanimity.
By now you know the 2nd US Constitution prohibits STATES from recalling Reps and Senators.

My theory rests on the importance of communication to society’s survival. Without effective communication we go into pathos, lizard brain.

I love this episode because it is a nearly perfect example of the rhetorical appeals: ethos, logos, pathos. Data learns to employ them all to develop his argument on the planets. It’s a pivotal Data episode that is underrated.

My partner and I heard your lament from across the bar and we really love your pathos

yea. it's an interesting story. but not exactly much from it that i remember is what i would call "alpha." very dialogue and pathos heavy, also incredibly repetitive in structure (it is a massive poem, after all), rather than heavy on action.

Ohhhhhhhh

That was one of the most depressing #TheArchers episodes.

The dramatic irony/pathos of George’s ‘I understand’ at the very end to Amber. 🥴

And Susan. Oh, Susan.

Beautifully played by the actors.

"Fantastic Four: First Steps", boah ist der langweilig und der Pathos nur schwer erträglich. Da hilft auch die retrofuturistische Optik nichts.

An utterly genius end to a comedy - with tragedy and pathos - a reflection on the futility of life, and the humour we leaven it with.
The finale of the great TV comedy show Blackadder goes Forth.
Back then I didn't expect one of the funniest programmes ever to end with a scene that makes me cry every time I see it.
Every single time.

Eine nüchterne Reportage, was derzeit in Pokrovsk und Mirnograd passiert. Ohne Pathos, mit den Worten der Soldaten die kämpfen und den Kommandeuren, die eine schwere Last tragen. 😔

My personal bugbear about James Bond is that (and no shade to Javier Bardem) Skyfall would've been a lot better and had more pathos if they'd gotten Pierce Brosnan to play the villain.
