It is 100% "mask at the supermarket" season. We do get them here in the Bay of Islands too, but thankfully I think most stay in Paihia/Kororāreka.

Coincidence! I made a batch of Cornish pasties 3 days ago. Hubby loves them & I do too. They were good, but still not as good as the best ones I've ever had from a little shop/cafe in Okaihau in Northland. We used to travel from Paihia regularly to get them.

Giving Merlin a bash as I’m awake a bit earlier than I’d like. Some interesting bird calls here in Paihia. Northland. Not a birder so entirely dependent on its accuracy at identifying calls.

I’m less sure about what might have been filmed in Paihia, but after having a scoot around StreetView I wonder if the fishing scenes might have been filmed near there.

If you have time and the ability, I absolutely recommend visiting Waitangi and the treaty grounds to get a sense of our colonial history. You could stay in Paihia or Kororāreka/Russell. Wonderful hosts around there
