#PSYCHEDELICS
On this Veteran’s Day, we shine a vital spotlight on treatment resistant PTSD and related conditions.

Special thanks to @governor.ca.gov and those seeking to accelerate the safe and appropriate use of psychedelics as a modality to help those with treatment resistant conditions.

would a gay man take a moderate amount of psychedelics for the first time and want a little too much attention for it?

“Psychedelics don’t ‘fix’ you. They introduce you to the version of yourself that can.”

i miss tripping. unfortunately my genes decided it would be very funny to send me into psychotic episodes when i do psychedelics

Saw this article in my feed earlier. Saw Dr. Loftus's name in it, which I recall from grad school.

You can't trust "recovered memories" only experienced while on psychedelics, which make memories malleable and may be more akin to dreams.

The body DOES keep score, but not all trauma is CSA. 🧵
Why Everyone's Talking About MDMA & Recovered Memories
Can MDMA help retrieve lost memories? This year’s hottest memoir, Amy Griffin's 'The Tell,' has reopened a thorny debate.

Anxious? Depressed? Psychedelics researchers want to give you LSD — for science
Anxious or depressed? These researchers might have LSD for you
Scientists are studying how its potent mind-altering properties could help disrupt troubled patterns of thinking, such as constant worrying or hopeless thoughts, by rewiring the human brain.

my tips for harm reduction:

1.) only drop acid at or before noon. it lasts a long time
2.) do blow only while the sun is up so you can sleep at night
3.) don't bump up- if you're doing something like psychedelics or mdma or whatever, do one dose. when you start coming down, be done. don't take more

It’s time to stand up to people like RFK JR, who shame others for taking psychiatric medications or GLP-1 drugs for weight loss, while glorifying pharmaceuticals like testosterone & psychedelics.

Dependence that improves lives shouldn’t be stigmatized.

The classic American journey: "She got divorced, became a lesbian, briefly joined a psychedelics cult in South America, suffered 'ego death,' almost died, found Jesus, moved from New York to Tucson."

In this thread, let me make clear:

1. Most of the information here will be academic from my psych education / secondhand experience with abuse victims
2. I was never sexually abused
3. I am interested in psychedelics for making memories less traumatic
4. You don't have to be lying to be wrong

If anyone still thinks psychedelics don't amplify pre-existing beliefs just look at the recent mushroom induced revelation of "don't die" billionaire Bryan Johnson. He hasn't been humbled, quite the opposite. His belief in life extension has been affirmed & his mission sounds even more evangelical.

“There is growing misconception that psychedelics are some sort of ‘magic pill’ that will fix whatever it is that’s holding you back. They are not. They are methods like anything else. They can help you tremendously when used correctly or they can work against you if used foolishly.”

I had an excellent psychopharmacology professor in grad school who had been a researcher in psychedelics before that was outlawed back in the day.

He had firsthand experience with these drugs and would tell us about their REAL effects, not the government's scare narrative.

That being said...

I think I’d be a lot more interested in psychedelics if I didn’t have to get them from or do them with the sort of people who enjoy psychedelics. I know I‘m poly, but I’m a ttrpg and renfaire poly. I hate burners. I don’t even like outside concerts. I‘m just casually interested in tripping lol

It’s the new addiction. My generation was drinking, the one before psychedelics.

And just like previous generations, some will be able to handle it in moderation, but a few will not and it will be tragic for them.

yeah i am no clinician by any means but the ethical ppl i know in the psychedelic therapy world would consider schizophrenia a counter-indication significant enough to deny care, a brain that is progressively damaging itself is a different problem than what psychedelics treat
