My experience of 1994 was that PHM was good, maybe even kind of cute, but TDS was a masterpiece, capital-A Art, a defining moment. People in my dorm went apeshit. So I still don’t understand how TDS flamed out here and PHM is #5.

Technique is a bit on the frothy side to make round 5, but otoh Trent turns in some real annoying vocals on some of these tracks...what to do, what to do. I will say I'm surprised that people seem more enthused about PHM than they were Downward Spiral

Yeesh, this is a toughie, and a total contrast of two different ways that electronic/synthetic-based music could go. I personally prefer New Order’s way, but it’s impossible to overstate the impact that PHM had over the next few years. Like NIN was influentially *everywhere* in the early 90s.

Ale mimo centrum tam byl dynamický růst do kovidu, pak tam byla ta pandemie + vysoké ceny PHM v roce 2022, od 2023 stabilizované oboje, přibylo 150k UA uprchlíků a pokračovala

Exactly. I LOVE New Order. So many fond memories of dancing to their music in clubs in my teens with misfit friends. But I was a big closet Industrial fan, and PHM just revolutionized the industrial scene like nothing else. It was like an anthem right when I needed it.

Second recommendation for both the book and avoiding the big spoiler trailer. He wrote The Martian if you've read/seen that. Same style writing but I liked PHM more.
