The AI tool in Overleaf keeps trying to change all instances of "we expect" to "we hope" so, hypothesizing is going well. Gotta say, I don't think this is worth the water usage.

I'm not here for this LaTeX slander!!
I wrote my MRes thesis in LaTeX - she still looks gorgeous 10 years later. The experience was *character building* to say the least - mostly because the Overleaf error messages were... a bit naff at the time.

An academic fact whose importance cannot—absolutely cannot—be overstated:
Whoever creates the Overleaf project gets to pick the macros.tex

But if the data to build a paper was open & accessible, then no Overleaf-like monopoly would ever >

I wonder if there's a way to make collaborative document editing software powered by ATProto? 👀
We have Tangled already. I feel like real-time ~WYSIWYG editing would be harder, but doable

The *web* part is not necessarily FOSS though (since it has paywalled features I guess?), and even if it is now, I imagine it will just go the way of Overleaf eventually and have that issue. I want a solution that has zero financial incentive

We're looking for further use cases of #Janeway in conjunction with #LaTeX-based workflows (e.g. #Overleaf).
Are you working with #OJS or LaTeX-based workflows in #DOA and would like to share your experience with us?

This is the true divide in society - Tab Spammers v Tab Spartans. I'm not a Single Tabber - a couple each for Jupyter Notebooks, Overleaf, browser + things I've Gogled), but more and my brain melts down in panic. When someone shares a screen with 50-odd on Teams, it fills me with existential terror.
I don’t understand how it’s possible to have fewer than, say, 20 tabs open at all times.
There are just too many things on the internet that I’ll definitely get around to reading at some point!

Bad things happening at overleaf. Been around since the sharelatex days, and I'm sad to see this. While I understand that they need to turn a profit, the pricing structure is not good, and their userbase is technically adept enough to find/use alternatives. I don't think this will turn out well.

GLC flood risk materials were plentiful in the 1970s given the Authority’s responsibilities in this regard. However, the volume of public facing communications reduced somewhat when the Thames Barrier - that great GLC project - became operational in the 1980s. Two examples here:
