#OverheadCostJob
I am an #OverheadCostJob. I help labs manage their $$. To ensure they spend fed $$ as promised. I make sure the lab has the security to push medicine forward, train students, and help young investigators succeed.

I take on this worry and administration so that they can come in and do the science.

Every week seems to be Shark Week, aka Bite-Off-Infrastructure Week. What a typically naive and disastrous move to blindly gut all support costs for research! That's not how ANYTHING works. (1/)

I was a staff research associate at UCSF! I did some “research” work sectioning, staining, and imaging mouse tissue, but I also did a lot of grunt work- ordering supplies, managing mouse colonies, genotyping, etc. #overheadcostjob

Multiple #overheadcostjob: I learned the ropes as a technician, I helped trainees find their footing in science and develop writing skills, I oversaw consortia to find therapeutics for Ebola and COVID, and I helped conceive and write grants that secured funds to keep the lab going.

Exactly.

#OverheadCostJob need to unite as very little publicity is ever given to the jobs they provide. Often out of limelight, glue holding everything together.

I was an “overhead cost”.

I was a beaker washer, agar plate pourer, research secretary. I was paid by “overhead cost” fees. Loved it.

Those “overhead cost” jobs allowed this rural kid to become a physician.

I was an #OverheadCostJob. I was a lab tech for two research yeast labs at JHU. I earned enough money to pay off my student loans and for a new car. The first new car in my family for well over a decade. Then, I applied to grad school. I'm the first PhD in my family.

I agree #OverheadCostJob I am a professor who relies on the ppl and other services provided by indirect costs on grants. This move will lead to BIG layoffs and economic hardship to communities
