What if @ethereum.foundation‬, Zcash Community Grants,
@hrf.org and other funders required grant recipients to meet #OpenDevelopment levels? Not just "is it open source?" but "is it Observable? Reproducible? Cooperative? Distributed?" 7/10

Real world example: OpenSSL was "open source" but maintained by 1 person working quarter-time. Result? Heartbleed. The license didn't prevent catastrophe - lack of Sustainability (a core #OpenDevelopment principle) did. 5/10

Agree @vitalik.ca‬ - "I support it only if it's open source" SHOULD be more common! But open source is just the beginning - it's only Level 0 of what we need! True #OpenDevelopment requires so much more to actually deliver on the promises you outline. 🧵… 1/10
