#OldArtMonday
More @kencougr.bsky.social for #OldArtMonday

From the same month that DOS 5.0 was released: Jun 1991.

The difficulty here is amazing:
You can only erase paper so many times. (Limited "undo.")
A character AND their reflection.
Complications: Perspective. Pose. Hands grasping. Landscape detail.

Man... I try to find "safe for work" examples for #OldArtMonday ... but I found an amazing piece that I gotta share. It's just gonna be tagged adult.

This is the heads-up for those of you who might be interested by have a curated feed.

Time for another #OldArtMonday

Here is "Topher, the world's cutest otter" -- but giant.

The pencils are from 1988 by @kencougr.bsky.social

The inked image is from 1989 by Topher's creator Deal Whitley.

Ken would have fun drawing people's characters giant with the byline "slightly altered."

Missed this earlier ... let's do an #OldArtMonday

"Hey! Can I get a copy of that?"

Scanners were rare/expensive in the early days. It was more common to have access to a photocopier.

These @kencougr.bsky.social pencils from a 1993 blackbook-entry arrive here via a photocopy. Burn-line and all.

Let's cross #OldArtMonday and #WerewolfWednesday ...

It may seem splitting hairs now, but in the early days there was more than a little discourse from werewolf fans on what made a lycanthrope vs a furry.

For #OldArtMonday ... let's ping @joeartguy.bsky.social and E-bay...

A copy of the 1998 album "Horndogfest", from Detroit-punk band "The Dirtbombs" is up on ebay:
www.ebay.com/itm/20582023...

The lead singer, Mick Collins ( @broknheadphones.bsky.social ), has his fursona in the other album art.

So now... for #OldArtMonday we have a mystery! It was filed in a Ken Cougr collection of art, but Ken has said this is not his doodle.

Now I went to Macro dinners starting at about 2000 Anthrocon. We never went to a "Charley's"

Anyone got the story on this? Anyone know who drew it? Which con?

The last couple of #OldArtMonday featured works by @kencougr.bsky.social - that's him below.

He's still active in the fandom. Streams over on Picarto & has a Patreon.

Patreon is an income for him. So if you can send him a buck or two, please do.

Since I missed a week for family stuff... lets do another #OldArtMonday

A large, weighty paw from 1989 by @kencougr.bsky.social

Hands and feet are hard to draw. It's not an understatement to say that Ken's work helped set a standard for peets.

Scanned photocopy of (likely) india ink on bristol.

We're getting into spooky season! So for #OldArtMonday have a all-digital (!!) Halloween comic from 1995 by Al Mackey.

(Some of you might know Al as the skunk who created Xenia the Linux fox.)
October 20, 2025 at 3:30 PM
So.. for #OldArtMonday let's go back to Feb of 1994 and find out what happened to Bobcat's Impala.

Anyone got details on the story?

Art by @kencougr.bsky.social
Likely india ink on bristol originally. Scanned photocopy.

For #OldArtMonday , it was my birthday Sunday, so let's talk about cake!

First, a 2010 slice-of-life piece by @suedeer.bsky.social - SueDeer giving me my birthday cake.

And when there are artists ... the cake-game gets insane...

Try it. It's fun. Gel icing can act like a pen.

So the holiday fell on #OldArtMonday and I took the day off. So why not today?

I guess now-a-days, most folks know Al Mackey as the creator of the linux fox mascot #Xenia

He did other art, of course. This is a 1996 print of a cute anthro tiger kitten and his favorite snack.

Speaking of Dirty Pair from #OldArtMonday ...
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 7th episode of Dirty Pair, "愛こそすべて命賭けます逃避行!!" or "Love Is Everything, Betting Their Lives on Elopement", one of the most overtly trans-positive episodes of anime of its era. This was the future they predicted for us in 1985. We can still get there.
August 26, 2025 at 5:11 PM
Hey... it's #OldArtMonday ... have a raised ink print from @kencougr.bsky.social from 1986.

Furry and anime crossed paths a lot. And that's going back through the "share the Japanese-only video tape copies" years.

This is "The Dirty Pairy" re-imagined as furries.

Raised ink print on Bristol.

For #OldArtMonday we have art from Tarin.

On what to do when your friend shows up in their "taur" form.

From 1994, pencils by Tarin. The other character is Vala, I believe.

No idea if either are on BlueSky.

I think I downloaded this art off of avatar.snc.edu as "TaurTease.gif" back in 1995.
August 18, 2025 at 3:32 PM
So... for #OldArtMonday a followup on the Furry History chat I did at @papabarks.bsky.social

I mentioned both @joeartguy.bsky.social the artist and @broknheadphones.bsky.social fronting "The Dirtbombs."

Here's the band's self-portrait and cover art from the 1998 album "Horndogfest."
August 11, 2025 at 7:16 PM
For #OldArtMonday ... how about some Anthrocon badge art from 1998 or 1999 by @teaselbone.bsky.social

In the first handful of years, Anthrocon had paper inserts for their badges where you could draw or display your OCs art.

Teasel was kind enough to sketch and color mine.

Pen & colored pencils.

For #OldArtMonday we have an fun piece from 1992:

@kencougr.bsky.social Kaiju-big and bulked up in muscle. Using loaded train cars for weight-lifting.

An early furry macro pic.

Pencils on paper. Posted with permission.

Hey... it's #OldArtMonday ...

Anyone else remember that time when @roxikat.bsky.social met Sasta?

I'm assuming the art is mid-1990s or earlier. No idea the artist.

Another #OldArtMonday ?

Let's look at some art from another person who's disappeared: Slinky.

Two digital and one pencils from the early 2000s:

Toni the Tigress.
Advice on weasels.
And a stylized portrait of some giant tiger or something.
July 14, 2025 at 9:10 PM
I missed an #OldArtMonday while at Anthrocon. Let's fix that.

Have some Eric Elliot werewolf, werefox and weretiger art.

Old-school digitigrade!

Circa 1992/1993. Pencils, markers, and a very early example of digital coloring.

A bonus #OldArtMonday ahead of @anthrocon.org

Enjoy those room parties!

Lance Rund, 1988 / Sy Sable, 1987
(No credit to me. @kencougr.bsky.social remembered the names.)

Photocopy flyers... the con-telegram-group of its day.

Time for an #OldArtMonday ?

We're just exiting KaiJune ... so how about a portrait of @giants-club.net getting a portrait?

Pencils by Tarin. 1994

Whoops. I'm late again!

A slight twist on macro/micro for #OldArtMonday

Spunkywulf from 2003.

Does anyone know if they are on blue sky?
