@OWGF That's a really good video, especially with the links to the Half Earth Socialism.

I must say I'm just a little tired of the youtubers using clips from Dear Alice and even the Arcane series and ignoring all of the artists from the https://storyseedlibrary.org/ , who specifically create […]

All cities in Europe should do this. I remember visiting Bologna during a heatwave and the cute little paved piazzas without a single tree were asphyxiating.

@OWGF And where do the solar panels come from? 85% of them come from a single country: China. With nuclear energy at least you have more options: South Korea, Russia, China, France, USA.

Do you know of any country that is powered mostly by solar? Let's […]

@OWGF Electricity is cheap in France and they generate most of it with nuclear energy.

The reason electricity in Pakistan became so expensive in recent years is because they import a lot of fossil fuels. Not to mention taxes and other fees unrelated to the actual generation and grid made for […]

@OWGF Easy, build the grid too. There's plenty of big cities and towns in Africa with an electric grid already, more and more people will move to them for a better future. Which is also coincidentally something we need to do to reduce our environmental impact. Higher density of everything means […]

@OWGF I present to you the induction stove, this baby can cook so many meals with electricity. Which can be generated from many sources, nuclear energy being one of them.
August 27, 2025 at 5:51 AM
@OWGF The capacity factor of solar panels in Africa is between 16% and 22%, with 17% being the average. Add losses from energy storage and other factors and those 15GW of solar will generate the same energy as 2.4GW of nuclear at 90% capacity factor. 2.4GW of nuclear energy could be provided by […]

@tezoatlipoca

Yes, things are happening at #waterloopublicsquare, but it still needs trees, not those fish skeletons that are arty but useless.

The "Unity Concert", a day-long concert was held there a month ago on one of the hottest days; nobody came because there was no shade.

@bobjonkman @OWGF u mean the one outside beertown? That place is a happening spot. They have salsa dancing some weeknights! Skating in the winter.

But yeah some spots downtown Kitchener really are concrete nothing

@tezoatlipoca

Looking at #waterloo Public Square as well.

To be fair, as a concrete slab it gets a lot more public use than as the parking lot it used to be.
