#Neuropixels
Come and visit my poster at HSN (Poster B12; Fri Nov 14, 12:45–2:30)!
Neuropixels in human hippocampus (anesthesia). Neurons show strong tracking of the auditory envelope of sound cues. No evidence for sound-evoked spatial reactivation. Come and have a look! Poster attached.

New preprint:

Neural manifolds that orchestrate walking and stopping

Here we develop a new theory for neural generation of walking and how it can stop- Next we test the theory using Neuropixels probes in the lumber spinal cord of freely moving rats. See more:

I’m well aware of single-neuron recordings in human patients; but to date, they’ve been very restricted in terms of where you can record and under what conditions (and data quality, although Neuropixels and other electrodes could indeed change that dramatically)...

You can record single units, including using neuropixels, from patients. And you can collect causal evidence using electric stimulation, pharmacology or non invasive stimulation such as TUS. I love monkey data, but the human toolkit is much wider than "simply fmri"

✨ Planned features include:
- A user-friendly Python interface to automate processing of Bonsai outputs for seamless integration with analysis tools (e.g. movement, pose-tracking, etc.)
- Alignment tools for synchronising pose-tracking, Bonsai, and Neuropixels data using common xarray structures

MC looks like a jumble @ neuron levels but seems coordinated when looking @ populations. But population studies mostly lump neurons all together w/out looking for spatial structure. Ryan used Neuropixels to widely sample neural populations across frontal motor cortices to quantify spatial structure.

High-density brain probe reveals distinctive electrical patterns of cell types during behavior
Trying to document how single brain cells participate in networks that govern behavior is a daunting task. Brain probes called Neuropixels, which feature high-density silicon arrays, have enabled scientists to collect electrophysiological data of this nature from a variety of animals.
