That's a big reason sp otake become passive and will hear anything about nayo's order and thoughts.. he's afraid he'll lose his father again (he also scared if nayo mad, he doesn't want to see nayo angry like before).

Nayo told otake that he'll find a way to cure mt.suzuka curse (he's back to the island where he's burry yuuma's skeleton), tell him to evacuate for temporary and left him almost a year. He didn't expect that his son will do such a thing to revive mt.suzuka and he's furious with it and left him.
