My Afro-Omani Swahili friend Hamad Al Siyabi. Many Afro-Omanis, including Hamad, are descendants of slaves - slavery was abolished in 1970 by the venerable Sultan Qaboos bin Said after he deposed his father Sultan Said bin Taimur in a coup d'état.

What's the temperature been like? The last time I was in Taipei I made the mistake of going at the end of June, and it was 100° with crazy dew points. Only other time I've been drenched in my own sweat like that was after hiking the trails around Muttrah, Muscat.
