“Many continue to think of COVID‑19 as ar respiratory infection, but it is increasingly clear that it is a multisystem, neurovascular disease. SARS-CoV-2 is not limited to the airways because it targets the endothelium, the layer of cells lining every blood vessel in the body.”

Like post acute infection syndrome, tihis is not new. But, we now have identified a trigger, and have more early event data.

Highly recommend this review from Oba et al. on the current status of Long COVID research & treatment -- worth a read! ✨

Here, the authors outline the major hypotheses for the root causes of LC. The research community has largely been coalescing around these ideas in the last 1-2 years. 📊

You have to read most of this article, about a college student mysteriously dying due to apparent ER negligence, before Covid is even mentioned.

And then it turns out he likely died from the multisystem inflammation caused by the Covid infection he had “just gotten over.”

Unreal.

A new review article examines whether calling COVID-19 “Airborne AIDS” is an oversimplification—or a necessary warning about immune dysfunction and long-term risk. It doesn’t equate the two diseases—it compares shared outcomes (immune exhaustion, tissue persistence, neurocognitive effects) and (...)

There are studies showing damage to blood vessels… even in kids…

I’m not saying that we need to get paralysed by fear… but we do need to deal with this, the way we deal with smoking (a shared dirty air problem) or TB (a multisystem airborne infection that needs control).

Got my Multisystem 2 in the mail today from @heber-limited.bsky.social . I've been looking forward to the Multisystem 2 more than Switch 2, and so far it does not disappoint. I'm quite blown away by the form factor and it looks much better in person than I thought!
