If you need your daily dose of heartbreak this is a great place to get it. Sarah is one of my most favourite writers and this story aches of the melancholic/nostalgic/poetic voice I’ve come to associate with her writing. Well worth the read. Also, who doesn’t love paint colour swatches? 🧡💜💚🩵🩶💙🩷💛

I hold the object up to the moon and brush away the muck to confirm it's what I need. The edges glow in the moonlight even with all the sludge smeared across its surface. Bingo! I look up at my car on the edge of the swamp, still running. 50 feet, that's all I have to go.

It's time to get out of here. I'm sinking fast now and the rain is only getting worse. I fish around in a panic until... there it is! My fingers tighten around it and I pull my hand out of the sucking mud.
