Looking ahead, AI promises even more. It could automatically add metadata to screenshot content or vastly improve searchability, making previously 'locked' information more dynamic and useful. The future of text-in-images is evolving. #AIInnovation 5/5

They don't--Figshare is a repository, not really meant to be a source of metrics--the views/downloads can be thought of here as metadata. It's a back-burner idea to get those into Altmetric, but I wouldn't hold your breath (there are too many front-burner ideas!).

Also, worth noting that between 1655 and 1949, the Globe story came out that said "Cambridge officials identified the issue on election night."

www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/10/m...

It was posted at least by 7:32pm, prob. before.
Its metadata says "Tue Nov 11 17:43:34 EST 2025".
A ballot-counting mistake led to a wrong unofficial winner in Cambridge election - The Boston Globe
Thousands of "test" ballots were counted in unofficial results as if they were legitimate, sowing confusion for days about who made the cut in a contested race.

Partly agree. Activism also needs group chats here to spread existing content more effectively.

Of course gor sensitive or high-risk communication, encrypted platforms without metadata logging are essential.

I think it's still safe to just click through to the ebook cover, copyright, and/or title pages; those resemble the print copy and don't contain weird metadata problems from the database. At least, I haven't seen it happen yet, though some ebook versions do really mangle copyright and title pages

#Immich's search functionality is so dang powerful. It can search file metadata, OCR'd text, face recognition, and even by textual descriptions (”black cat on green grass”).

BUT you have to manually select the search mode. It is apparently not possible to "just search via every way". I think […]

NEW on Wonkhe: What if the real problem with higher education choice isn’t too little data, but too much of the wrong kind? Jim Dickinson argues it’s time to rethink programme architecture, not metadata buff.ly/sqy7zu5

You remembered to wipe the metadata... right?

Thanks. I already signed up and am looking forward to adding games

I used to go on GameSpot or ign and save cover art to my PC & add tags, notes and star reviews into the Metadata using Adobe Bridge and used that as my own little offline database.

It's awesome backloggd has the cover art for you ❤️

I can at least partly answer why: a bizarre error on Proquest. As you would expect, searching the book's text returns no hit for "Guthro" but there he is listed in the metadata somehow. I've seen similar before, though usually where a series editor or foreword or similar is grouped with the authors

Note also that the eight Republican senators’ phone metadata was obtained legally through subpoenas issued by Special Counsel Jack Smith as part of his Jan. 6 investigation, and those subpoenas were approved by a federal judge.
November 12, 2025 at 6:46 AM
Note that the DOJ searches citizens’ phone metadata only in specific, legally authorized situations, such as criminal investigations, grand jury proceedings, and national security cases, where subpoenas or court orders are required.
November 12, 2025 at 6:46 AM
Note the phone metadata is call history data and not a recording of a phone conversation. It only shows when a call was made, to whom, and for how long. It is not a phone tap!
November 12, 2025 at 6:46 AM
The language is retroactive, meaning it directly benefits eight GOP senators whose phone metadata was obtained during Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Jan. 6 investigation.
November 12, 2025 at 6:46 AM
The Republican senators are simply taking their cue from the Grifter-in-Chief. And it's not even a matter of "listening in" to phone calls ~ it's just super-nerd metadata. Sheesh!

Buried in the spending bill to reopen the government, a provision lets eight GOP senators sue the Donald Trump-controlled Justice Department for $500,000 apiece because prosecutors accessed their phone metadata during the Jan. 6 inveslitigation.

Spent valuable packing time doing a much more important task (editing the metadata of all 958 books on my e-reader)
November 12, 2025 at 4:52 AM
Bit annoyed A. I missed poking and may not have hit 11 seconds (and I don't want to check the metadata to be sure because I probably did) and B. Bluesky didn't interpret the hashtag not because it wasn't valid, but because I forgot to put a space after it. Gosh, I'd better go.

Oh, one more thing...

Another day, another GOP scam. Buried in the spending bill to reopen the government is a shocking provision that lets 8 GOP senators sue Trump-controlled DOJ for Millions because prosecutors legally accessed their phone metadata during the Jan. 6 investigation. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I5G...
