Do the Right Thing evokes frustration through cinematic techniques. The harsh lighting and heat reflect the characters' discomfort, while close-ups and low-angle shots emphasize power dynamics. Public Enemy's "Fight the Power" heightens tension and intensifies the emotional climax. #Media180FA2024

I liked the use of bright saturated colors and camera angles to emphasize tension that builds ip throughout the film.

After watching “ do the right thing” I felt frustrated. the film was designed to provoke complex emotions, especially through racial tensions and social injustice. Spike Lee used camera angles and movements to capture the raw emotions of the characters.

My initial response to “ Do the right thing” was anger, because to this day although not as intense, it’s something we are still dealing with. Camera angles signify the intensity of scenes and make viewers feel how the characters did. #media180fa2024

Raheem's death really shocked me. I agree when you say it's raw and unfiltered. #Media180FA2024

After watching the film, "Do the Right Thing", I felt a combination of frustration and anger. Spike crafts scenes that make the viewers question the underlying moral deliemma at hand. His use of close up camera angles adds tension and draws viewers into that character's world. #Media180FA2024

Do the Right Thing (1989) frustrated and upset me due to the ongoing spiraling conflict and lack of resolution. Spike Lee's use of close-up camera angles and harsh lighting creates a sense of tension, and the "Fight the Power" song adds urgency and intensity to the chaotic scene. #Media180FA2024

I agree, the behaviors and racism portrayed throughout the movie kept making me uncomfortable and anxious. The physical violence from the pizza shop owner towards the black characters made me feel really sad. The camera angle tilted and up-close to the faces made it intimidating. #Media180FA2024

Watching Do the Right Thing (1989), I felt anger, knowing it reflects today’s reality. Raheem’s death was raw and unfiltered, with camera angles capturing every perspective his struggle, his friends' anguish, and the police's actions. The riot that followed overflowed with emotion. #Media180FA2024

In my post I wrote about camera angles, yet another good point made here was the song that enhanced emotion and therefore would gain a reaction from the audience. The song “Fight the Power” was used numerous times and definitely gives the feeling of tension and a valuable addition. #Media180FA2024

I feel that the close ups were a good point to add because they are very accurate in depicting the raw emotion and severity of the situation at that particular moment. The colors were something I didn’t have, yet is very important towards conveying this feeling of tension. #Media180FA2024

My immediate reaction to the movie was to feel uncomfortable and disturbed. This was mainly because of the various racial injustices portrayed. The low angle shots that showed intense confrontations, like that of the police and Radio Raheem, and others, evoked a powerful reaction

I felt very sad after that scene of Raheem's death as well. The visuals and editing, along with the other techniques used left a lasting impact on me

I completely agree. I thought the techniques used were very thought-provoking and left me thinking in depth about the racial injustice we still may be facing today

I was frustrated and felt of discomfort. The overly exaggerated actions and camera angles felt overwhelming at times. The use of Dutch angles and intense close-ups created a sense of instability and tension that mirrored the racial conflict depicted in the film.

Lee's use of Wide-angle close-up shots at low/high angles and Dutch Angles created an uneasy/grotesque feeling in Do the Right Thing (1989). These claustrophobic elements magnified the conflicting ideologies more intensely repellent. I felt sort of cynical after watching. #Media180FA2024

One part that made me sad was when 3 young people were talking to the mayor and criticizing him for being a drunk but the mayor stands up for himself and tells his story but the young people still disregard him, it’s the first time we see the mayor be “serious”. The camera zoomed in #Media180FA2024

My immediate emotional reaction is anger and frustration after watching “Do the Right Thing.” I felt there were many injustices throughout the film, and felt tension for most of the movie. The tension was felt due to techniques used such as a warm color gradient for all of the film

After watching Do The Right Thing, I felt angry and devastated. The use of low and dutch angles really amplified the tension and frustration of the entire movie for me. It executed the conflicting feelings I feel when watching anything about racism and injustice very well.

This definitely was making me question the behaviors of different characters. Also made me very anxious many times, the heat, the craziness and the death evoked a lot of emotions. The racism, aggression and violence was too much to not have a reaction to. #Media180FA2024
